Hyatt House Grand Opening Ceremony Honors Veterans and Celebrates the Success of Rochester’s First Qualified Opportunity Zone Project

Hyatt House Rochester has been providing the comforts of home to patients and families visiting the Mayo Clinic since opening its doors in March 2021. EKN Development Group, in conjunction with our joint-venture partners at PEG Companies, celebrated the Rochester Hyatt House, a project that remained on schedule and opened with great success in the midst of a global pandemic, with a Grand Opening Ceremony.

EKN Development broke ground on the former American Legion property in April 2019. At the Grand Opening, EKN thanked US Veterans by commemorating a one-of-a-kind flag in their honor in the hotel’s lobby, and especially in the honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. “We deeply appreciate their service and sacrifice. They’ve given us our freedom and we have them to thank for making this country what it is today,” says Ebbie K. Nakhjavani, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at EKN Development Group, who spoke at the event. The servicemen and women of this nation deserve our recognition and more for paving a path towards freedom at home and abroad, and every member of the Hyatt House team will remember their contribution.

The City of Rochester has shown its unwavering support for Hyatt House throughout development. The hotel became the first Qualified Opportunity Zone project in Rochester, a community program to encourage long-term investments in growing cities. Hyatt House was deemed essential business during the Covid-19 pandemic due to the project’s positive impact on the local economy.

Kim Norton, Mayor of Rochester, was in attendance at the ceremony and expressed her support for Hyatt House: “We are celebrating a beautiful building with great services for the residents’ families that come or patients of Mayo Clinic that come, and [Hyatt House] will provide that caring environment that is so important here in Rochester.”

Hyatt House Rochester is located at 315 1st Ave NW and neighbors Mayo Clinic’s growing campus and family-friendly destinations including parks and hiking trails. The 172-key property provides apartment-style extended stay lodging to guests seeking treatment or visiting patients at the renowned medical center. Hyatt House’s spacious suites, 24-hour gym, outdoor terrace, market, and bar will keep guests relaxed and comfortable during their extended stay. Hyatt House is open and checking in guests.
