EKN and its partners acquired the Holiday Inn Downtown Rochester, Minnesota in March 2018, and operated the Hotel through the fall of that year before closing the property for its redevelopment and conversion to the Hotel Indigo. After 16-months of construction, the Hotel Indigo Rochester Downtown officially opened and welcomed its first guests in January 2020.The redevelopment transformed the 60’s style hotel into a sleek, modern, hotel designed to provide guests a light and airy lodging experience that is fully integrated with the City’s downtown.
A centerpiece of the Hotel’s design and appeal is the recently opened Crave Food & Drink, a dining experience unlike any other in the City. The 10,000 square-foot, 2-story restaurant, features a retractable roof covering half the dining space that has drawn wonder from the locals and visitors alike and established the Hotel as a destination unto itself. Crave’s reputation as one of the best modern-American restaurants in the region along with its coveted location generated a substantial amount of buzz and media attention before opening and has fully delivered on all expectations.
The Hotel is within walking distance from most the area’s restaurants, bars, parks, and museums, as well as the Mayo Clinic Headquarters Building, the Mayo Clinic Sciences Facility, the Mayo Civic Center, and the Olmsted County Government Center. By virtue of its location and stylish design, the Hotel Indigo is perfectly positioned to support and serve Mayo’s world-renowned medical campus.
